PET DEGREE® Barn Hunts for Dogs

If you’ve never heard of barn hunts for dogs, you’re in for a treat. It’s an exciting sport for canines and humans ― it’s like the March Madness of dog ownership. And Pet Degree can turn you and your dog into pros.

Sign up for one of our classes below.

Happy Hunting

Many dogs are natural hunters, but they rarely get to use those skills in domestic life. By introducing your canine pal to our barn hunt program, you’ll awaken those instincts and make him or her feel fully alive. As a result, the bond between the two of you will be strengthened.

To participate in this course, you’ll need proof that your dog’s vaccines are up to date. Also, your dog must have passed the Pet Degree Beginner Obedience course or have taken obedience classes elsewhere. Don’t worry, we’ll evaluate them to ensure that they’re ready for barn hunting.

Barn Hunts are a New Kind of Rat Race

Our barn hunt program involves hiding rats in bales of straw. Yes, they’re live rats. To be successful at this sport, dogs must tunnel through the bales and locate those rodents as quickly as they can.

Don’t worry; the rats aren’t harmed. They’re ensconced within tubes, with plenty of air and comfy beds. Indeed, barn hunts are safe for everyone involved.

Rigorous Yet Fun

We’ll provide all of the necessary barn hunting equipment, and we’ll demonstrate what each tool is used for. And throughout this course, your pet will get plenty of opportunities to mingle with other dogs, improving his or her social skills in the process.

During this class, our trainers will accompany you through the hunting area. These experts will show you how to use rewards to enhance your dog’s technique. Moreover, they’ll tell you which verbal cues to use in various situations. You’ll also receive a detailed training guide that will review these barn hunting methods.

Lasting Memories

Of course, what’s school without homework? Luckily, our assignments are pleasurable. At home, you’ll get to practice the routines that we teach you. Not to mention, you can take photos of you and your dog in action and we’ll turn those pictures into a charming album.

You’ll always remember the time you and your dog took up this sport, and the two of you will truly be a team afterward. Maybe you and your pet will even take up the sport seriously and enter competitive dog barn hunts.

As a final note, our barn hunt class takes place at 2070 Clinton Street; our main facility is just across the street.
